From the under privileged millennials
To whom it may concern
We are the less planned for voices
We are the 77% youthful bracket
Of the population known for the ghetto hustle
Whose voices are always mistaken for violence.
Whose roar is misunderstood as hooliganism
Downcast, depressed and despondent my heart pulsed, “dop-dip-dop-dip…”
A bleeding heart ignited the tears gallons down my chic
As the memories of how we used to sing more than goodnight lullabies
Created the precious photo gallery in the medulla chambers of mind.
And since opening that photo album was the hardest thing I could do
So, I choose to peruse through these Ancient paper scripts.
Hello Daddy
I know we’ve had our disputes but please forgive me
Indeed, my ignorance had suffocated my observations
My heart was wrapped in the veil of anger and bitterness
So, my eyes couldn’t see your sacrifice, little did I know
On your shoulders always stood the plinth of our family pillars
So, I always judged you not realizing that sometimes the dignity depriving jobs were the only option
So as to build a firm foundation for your God-given stewardship.
On many occasions, I’ve seen your heart’s ventricles quiver,
Yet your sturdy hands always holding your scared household by your chest.
Gwaali mwaka gwa nkumi biri mu abiiri
Awo nga mu mweezi ogw’okubiri
Netuwulira mbu kino ekirwadde tekitaliza n’ambirizi biri
Wamma gwe, obubonero bwa lumima mawuggwe
Bwalabikira mu mwami Jjaggwe
Ekyaalo kyona kyaagwamu enkikwe
Bwekyamanyika nti omutaka w’ekyaggwe
